2015 was unlike any other. My first year since the beginning of my memory where I haven’t spent my year going to school. A year that brought me many notable sunrises accompanied with the tingling of excited anticipation for what the upcoming day may hold. Don’t get me wrong, 2015 was one Hell of a chaotic roller coaster. But despite facing many demons I am proud to tell you I’ve come out ahead. For better 2015 has formed me into a more grateful person who understands the value of sweating the small stuff if you […]

Sunday Surfin’: Porter Ranch Gas Leak
Weird that just after moving back in with my family in Porter Ranch I’m now finding myself hopping from hotel to hotel around Los Angeles due to the Porter Ranch gas leak. I just refuse to be in the same place for more than a week! No, in all seriousness my family and I have been relocated out of our neighborhood because of a methane gas leak just around the corner. SoCal Gas, who is responsible for the 40 year old pipe, has been unable to locate the source of the leak and has stated […]
Sunday Surfin’: Thanksgiving
A holiday centered on eating an elaborate meal with friends and family. Yeah, I’ll admit to loving Thanksgiving. I’m incredibly grateful this Thanksgiving to actually be able to celebrate with my family on Thanksgiving day. For the past few years working in the restaurant industry meant working on the holiday. If it were my restaurant (not yet, but soon) we’d always be closed Thanksgiving day. Seriously this is America, people. Can we close on at least one of the biggest National Holidays? Sheesh, buinesses everywhere get it together. Actually while we’re at it, close on […]
Sunday Surfin’ 11.8.15
Another whirlwind week. And the end of an era. Alright, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but this past week I bid adieu to my home for the past 5 years. As it would happen, I’ve been offered a restaurant management position in Beverly Hills which means the dreaded Millenial moment of moving back in with your parents. I’m excited to have a new project and way of life to look forward to, but saying goodbyes is never easy. I am incredibly grateful to have the support system I’ve found in my Las Vegas knit. I’m […]
Sunday Surfin’ 10.25.15
Moments that make me realize I’m becoming a functioning adult really freak me out. This past weekend I drove out to Beverly Hills to be put up in a hotel and put through an intensive working interview. I find myself to be enthused about being able to get back to work especially in a restaurant environment I’d seem to enjoy. To believe I’d give up funemployment this easily though— shocking. It was also around this time when I realized Halloween is literally around the corner and I have no idea what I’ll be. This might […]
Sunday Surfin’ 10.11.15
Living in a tourist city is living in a convenience store for entertainment. While often people in big cities must trek to the outer edges of their town for an event, Las Vegas is built around these events. I had first considered going to Wine Amplified a few weeks ago when I received an email for discounted tickets benefiting UNLV. I threw the idea around to a few friends, but being a currently unemployed college graduate the idea didn’t really click. Fast forward to this week and it all fell into place.I was in Vegas […]
Sunday Surfin’ 9.27.15
“How do you keep a wave upon the sand?” In great restless fashion I found myself back in LA this week. My mom had won some tickets to see The Sound of Music which just opened down at The Ahmanson. As an unemployed vagabond, it was the best excuse I could find to get back to my hometown. My little sister, the theater production major, joined us for the evening studying the show with a critical eye. But what’s a night out at the playhouse without a proper pre-theater meal? I can sense what you’re […]
Sunday Surfin’ 9.20.15
All calendars should start with Sunday. That’s how my mind has been trained to recognize calendars. Yet my mind also sees Monday as the start of the new week. So what is Sunday? The beginning or the end? For me Sundays wind up being days of reflection for the previous week, but also stir up drive for the week to come. Somehow though I always go to bed with more motivation on a Sunday night than I wake up with on a Monday morning. Hm… Anyways, if you read my blog chronologically you will realize […]
